Privacy[edit]

I also am impressed with this writeup, but I draw a different conclusion. As an active editor who's used his real name since 2006, I have found that starting off with full disclosure has led to incredibly positive results. It's a good incentive to conduct myself in ways I would be happy to defend in any context; while I may not have a 100% perfect record on that front, it's worked out pretty well. I never have to worry about being "outed," and it makes it much easier to address any areas where a connection to a topic should be disclosed. I understand and appreciate that many people have had different experiences, and I would not say it's for everyone; but it's well worth considering. Potentially of interest: I created an overview of different levels of anonymity, and the pros and cons of each, for the Wikipedia course I teach: Wikipedia:WIKISOO/Create an account -Pete Forsyth (talk) 00:34, 26 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
