The railroad of the Lake Providence, Texarkana,[sic] and Western Railroad, hereinafter called the carrier, is a single-track standard-gauge steam railroad, located in the northeastern part of Louisiana. The owned mileage extends from Sondheimer, westerly into the timbered country, a distance of 4.217 miles. The carrier also owns and uses 0.921 mile of yard tracks and sidings. Its road thus embraces 6.138 miles of all tracks. The carrier is an industrial railroad operated for freight service only. It reports that during the year ending December 31, 1919, it handled 57,400 tons of freight, consisting entirely of products of forests, most of which was received from E. Sondheimer Company, the controlling interest.


CORPORATE HISTORY

The carrier was incorporated September 18, 1911, under the general laws of Louisiana for the purpose of acquiring and operating a railroad from Cannon (now Sondheimer) into the timberlands, all in the State of Louisiana. The date of organization was not disclosed by the records reviewed. The company was incorporated by the E. Sondheimer Company which owns timberland in the territory served by this railroad.

DEVELOPMENT OF FIXED PHYSICAL PROPERTY

The right of way over which the carrier operated on date of valuation was owned by the E. Sondheimer Company and the rails laid in the track were leased from the Missouri Pacific Railroad Company. The carrier has stated in its annual reports to us that it has made expenditures for structures and for roadway apparatus.
