Alpha Kappa Rho[edit]

Welcome. I've been impressed by your technical work so far, creating a user box for a Greek Letter Organization isn't simple. My handle is Naraht and I'm an experienced member of Wikipedia:WikiProject Fraternities and Sororities. Please visit and hopefully join the project. I'm a brother of Alpha Phi Omega - USA, but due to my exposure to Alpha Phi Omega (Philippines), I'm probably the editor with the most experience with Filipino Fraternities and Sororities (at least until you got here) :).

In terms of the changes that you made to the Alpha Kappa Rho articles. I understand that Alpha Kappa Rho calls its founders "Founding Fathers", that piece of infomration is fine, but the FF. as a title isn't. And International is appropriate where there are collegiate chapters outside of the Philippines. If you can help find a reference that Alpha Kappa Rho does have collegiate chapters outside the Philippines, it would help with both the scope and a reference for "AKRHO claims to have chapters worldwide".

In general, finding references for Filipino Fraternities and Sororities is more difficult than finding them more those in the US, as Baird's Manual of American College Fraternities (sort of an encyclopedia for Greek Letter Organizations) can be used for backbone facts. At one point, List of fraternities and sororities in the Philippines was a much larger article. See for example, https://en.luquay.com/w/index.php?title=List_of_fraternities_and_sororities_in_the_Philippines&action=edit&oldid=887235506 (and edit it, since the row template that was used before has been deleted, it is difficult to see otherwise. However, groups without articles or other references were dropped. In my opinion, the Alpha Kappa Rho, Alpha Phi Omega (Philippines) and Sigma Rho articles are good models for pages about specific GLOs in the Philippines. So as references, Philstar, Sunstar, Inquirer, Manila Times and (a bit lower in quality) Rappler are good places to start. Please stop by Wikipedia Talk:WikiProject Fraternities and Sororities and say hi.

About Alpha Kappa Rho[edit]

Good afternoon, Mr. Vittorio. I note your several additions to the Alpha Kappa Rho article, which several of us watch carefully as members of the Fraternity and Sorority Project. I note that there had previously been many attempts to bloat the article with claims of thousands of chapters and (if memory serves) with a member count approaching 1 Million. Clearly this would place AKR as the largest of all fraternal organizations in the world. If those claims were true it would also be necessary to have a formal structure and staff to support all these members and chapters. Yet citable references are scant, no international headquarters is listed, and the organization does not even have a working website that we can find.

Thus, while your changes have been minor (adding the Founders, for example), we definitely need citable references. My cordial and friendly advice to you, as you seem to care about this group, is to help them develop a website that will serve as a repository for factual information and to provide links to noteworthy news. While alphakapparho.org does exist and does contain some information, it doesn't seem to contain anything that makes it look like the National Organization did it. Any ideas of the last name of Founding Mother Marissa CXmuyog. (X for not sure, I've seen Cumuyog, Camuyog and Comuyog online, with https://alphakapparho.org/f/akrho-history having Comuyog.Naraht (talk) 20:36, 28 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
