License tagging for Image:Alec-Gillies-Benny-Hollinger.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Alec-Gillies-Benny-Hollinger.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Timmins, Ontario page[edit]

I've noticed you've edited the Timmins, Ontario page. On that page you added...

"Archaeological and historical studies indicate that the first people to settle in the Timmins area were nomadic tribes dating back to 5,500 BC (Middle Shield Culture)." What sources are you basing this comment on. You can refer to WP:REF for citing sources.Renrenren 01:38, 9 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Autobiography[edit]

I have removed your link to John Monaghan as a notable person from Timmins, Ontario.

Wikipedia is not to be used for self promotion. Please see Autobiography section at WP:COI for more information. You can also read WP:AB for more information. If you would like to have this information online, you are free to update your userpage. Renrenren 13:59, 29 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

proposed for deletion[edit]

I've added the "{{prod}}" template to the article John Monaghan, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree with the notice, discuss the issues at Talk:John Monaghan. You may remove the deletion notice, and the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached, or if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria. AfD Nomination: John Monaghan[edit]

An editor has nominated the article John Monaghan for deletion, under the Articles for deletion process. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the nomination (also see What Wikipedia is not and Deletion policy). Your opinions on why the topic of the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome: participate in the discussion by editing Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/John Monaghan. Add four tildes like this ˜˜˜˜ to sign your comments. You can also edit the article John Monaghan during the discussion, but do not remove the "Articles for Deletion" template (the box at the top of the article), this will not end the deletion debate. —Swpb talk contribs 03:54, 30 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Timmins photos[edit]

Thanks for some nice photo contributions. Just so you know, there were actually a few too many photos for the current length of the article, so I took the Hollinger Park and Timmins Daily Press photos off the Timmins article, and put them onto the specific Hollinger Park and Timmins Daily Press articles instead. Just wanted to let you know, so you don't think they got deleted or anything. Bearcat 07:25, 27 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

John Monaghan page[edit]

This page has been deleted before. I have placed a speedy delete tag this time as it will be deleted once again. If you want to create this page about yourself, place it on your Monogram or Gilliespearl userpage.--Renrenren 21:14, 28 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on John Monaghan, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert notability may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is notable, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Renrenren 21:14, 28 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • If you own the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL, and note that you have done so on Talk:Richard J. Ennis. Alternatively, you may create a note on your web page releasing the work under the GFDL and then leave a note at Talk:Richard J. Ennis with a link to the details.

It is also important that the text be modified to have an encyclopedic tone and that it follows Wikipedia article layout. For more information on Wikipedia's policies, see Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.

File permission problem with File:McIntyre Mine in Schumacher, Ontario.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:McIntyre Mine in Schumacher, Ontario.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Call me! My master! 21:58, 23 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
