Michigan region map[edit]

While claiming to be more accurate, you have moved Clare County (official slogan "Where the North Begins") and Gladwin County into a different region. You have also created a map which violates our Accessibility guidelines: you should not rely on only color to describe something as some people are color-blind. I understand the previous map had issues but so does your new one. Rmhermen (talk) 00:18, 20 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

While I have tried to make the regions more defined, I understand that no map of this nature is perfect or can be aligned to completely represent the vast majority of regions in the state. I have visited Clare and it seems to me that it is more connected to the central part of the state than to a place like Cadillac or Traverse City. Obviously, its position compared to the rest of the state is north, I believe it fits better along the US 127 corridor in which I've labeled Central Michigan. However, this is a suggestion I will deeply consider. I would like to hear more from others on this issue. We have pointed out that the other map has issues, and I know mine probably has a few too. We should take in consideration that these are simply groupings of geographic, political, and economic areas. All region lines are strictly relative, and can be interpreted however you choose.

I plan on an updated version of this map soon and will include arrows as well as to not be so colour dependent. Thanks for the comment. Mac1island (talk) 02:47, 20 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please take a look at my updated map. It is now based on 5 principal regions (dark) and shows overlapping areas (light). Titles for these regions are placed over the shaded area so that there are no accessibility infractions. Mac1island (talk) 18:37, 20 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I just stumbled upon your ne map, and there's a very major issue with it: Where's the Upper Peninsula? Did I miss an announcement that it seceded from the State of Michigan? Any map, or caption, that implies that the Upper Peninsula is not in the State of Michigan is wrong, period. Your description says: "The four major geographical and economical regions of the State of Michigan", yet the UP would be the fifth of five. Can you please correct this map to show the UP ? First, the file name is "Michigan Lower Peninsula Regions.png" [1] If you have seen this new map, then please look back to the old versions well before I created my version. The maps I have changed pertain to the lower peninsula. There is a separate map that shows the UP as one whole region. As you can see from this page Outline_of_Michigan#Regions_of_Michigan, both peninsulas are shown. If there was a definition of distinct UP regions (like eastern or western, instead of subjective regions like "Copper Country"), I would include it in my map. To my knowledge, no such page exists. The caption has been amended to "Lower Michigan". In no way does this map of regions infer that there is no UP, and if I receive information on generally accepted regions within the upper peninsula, I would be glad to add it in.Mac1island (talk) 02:01, 21 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification[edit]

Hi. When you recently edited Central Michigan, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Grand River, Flint River and Red Cedar River (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
