Saw your note at Esperanza and I agree that you could do with a break. Your grades are way more important than anything here and if you feeling this has become a battlezone for you then it's even more important you shift perspective for a while. Hopefully you'll come back soon refreshed and with your academic work under control - take care. Sophia10:30, 5 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Terence, I double that. School comes first but it will be nice to see you around one day. Good luck! --Tone12:03, 5 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I blame the SG meetup ;). Many of the attendees are dropping like flies with respect to Wikipedia. Take a break and come back. Cheers, NoSeptember 12:47, 5 July 2006 (UTC)
Take an extended wikibreak, and ensure that the important things in your life are shored up. Wiki will always be here when you return :) Good Luck! -- Avi14:22, 5 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, education is much more important than Wikipedia, so I wish you all the best in this cause. I hope when things have stablized that you pop back.Blnguyen | rant-line02:20, 7 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Terence, don't leave. You have been a great help to all of us. Return if you must. All the best. I hope you can support me in my next Rfa. See you.--Tdxiang10:36, 6 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hey Terence, hope you come back one day. I guess I'll just be waiting for you until then. Hope your studies go alright. ;-) — The King of Kings 21:59 July 08 '06
Thanks buddy. :) Hope you return full-time soon. Cheers! — The King of Kings 16:04 July 09 '06
Terence, you have to do what you have to do. I know you can do well with all of the matters in real life, be sure not to forget us. Good luck! Yanksox11:18, 10 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your vote in the Esperanza Elections. Your support is much appreciated, and it means that I am now in the Council. I will continue to try my best, and if you have any questions or queries, please don't hesistate to leave me a message. Thanks again, — FireFox 15:32, 10 July '06
I very much respect your decision and I believe it's a good one; there are more important things than Wikipedia. Don't look back!
At the same time, just be aware that you leave with the best wishes, respect and appreciation of many Wikipedians, including some of us you don't know (but know you by your work)
Thanks for your support in the Esperanza Elections, Terence, even if you are on your way to heading off. I appreciate your confidence, and hope that all goes well in your busy life, and that we may see you back here at some point. -- Natalya01:44, 11 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, but I had to revert you, Don Mueang is the recommended spelling, see [1]. Muang in Thai is ม่วง, while Mueang is เมือง. Both are clearly differently pronounced. The Thai romanization is a pain, but we here try to use the Royal Thai General System of Transcription, which has its shortcomings but is better than using a random system like by number of Google hits for the various spellings... andy14:32, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I strongly disagree. On road signs you also find varying spellings (not sure about Don Mueang, but other names are differently transcribed), and it's hard to understand why one government department creates a "official" transcription scheme, and other departments use their own. You might also see Wikipedia:Manual of Style (Thailand-related articles) - though never officially adopted, the consensus there was to use RTGS. andy14:39, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Quite the contrary. Just because there are so many version it is very helpful to have at least a standard to use. There are always redirects which can be used, but internally we should try our best to have a consistant spelling scheme. And Muang is a misleading spelling, while Mueang is a common word (meaning town) you will find it in several places - for example the administrative entities Amphoe Mueang and Thesaban Mueang, there are places named something like Mueang Mai (new town), streets named Thanon Mueang (a bit like "main street") - and for each there might be a different spelling predominately. It'd simply be a chaos, so better sometimes use a less common but more "correct" spelling than do it different every time. andy15:02, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hello I64s/Archive 8, and thank you for your support at my Request for Adminship, which succeeded with an overwhelming final count of (105/2/0). I was very pleased with the outpouring of kind words from the community that has now entrusted me with these tools, from the classroom, the lesson in human psychology and the international resource known as Wikipedia. The Free Encyclopedia. Please feel free to leave me plenty of requests, monitor my actions (through the admin desk on my userpage) and, if you find yourself in the mood, listen to some of what I do in real life. In any case, keep up the great work and have a fabulous day. Grandmasterka07:15, 16 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Terence Ong and thank you for your support at my Request for Adminship, which succeeded with a final tally of (67/0/0)! Please don't hesitate to let me know what I can do for you (or what I can generally do better) regarding admin-related duties or otherwise! :)
Hi Terence, it's good to see you round wikipedia again, as you are a great editor, and I know that you had a lot of school work etc to do. I ever did properly thank you for your vote of support in the Esperanza elections. It meant a lot to me that you had the confidence in me to vote support. Next time around maybe both you and I will get the oppertunity to represent Esperanza in a more offical way ;)
Anyway, I really hope that everything's going okay for you, and that you're not wieghed down by real life events. Yours, Thε HaloΘ10:48, 18 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
To the people who have supported my request: I appreciate the show of confidence in me and I hope I live up to your expectations! Thanks for your support opinion on my RfA. With a final vote of (62/0/1), my RfA passed, and I am now an Administrator. I will work hard to ensure that the tools entrusted to me will not be abused, and will wield my mop proudly. Happy editing! --Firsfron of Ronchester23:40, 28 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, Terence, thanks for supporting my RfA, which registered a tally of 104/4/7. Which means...
I am now an admin!!!
I was and still am very flattered by all the kind comments that I recieved, I will also take into account the comments about how I could improve. I guarantee I will try my best to further assist Wikipedia with the mop. Feel free to drop in and say hi or if you need anything. Again, thank you so much! Yanksox04:05, 29 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Flower power!Request for Adminship
Thank you for contributing to my my request for adminship. Although I wasn't promoted to admin status, with a withdrawn vote count of 14/27/14, I am very happy with the response I received from my fellow Wikipedians. I was pleasantly suprised at the support, and was touched by it. I will also work harder on preventing disputes and keeping cool under stress. Hopefully I will re-apply soon and try again for the mop. Thanks again, HighwayReturn to Oz...13:33, 29 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your support on my RFA. The final vote count was (61/9/3), so I am now an administrator. Feel free to let me know how I'm doing at any point in time or if you need anything. Once again, thank you. Wickethewok15:35, 31 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thankyou for your participation in my RfA. Due to an almost even spread of votes between Oppose and Support (Final (16/13/6)) I have decided to withdraw for now and re-apply in a couple of months as suggested. I thank everyone for their kind support of my editorial skills; it meant a lot to me to get such strong recommendations from my fellow editors. If you ever have any hints as to how I can improve further, I would love to hear from you. ViridaeTalk15:24, 2 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for taking part in my RfA! Unfortunately, it ended with a final result of (62/23/7), and with only 73% support, no consensus was achieved. Nevertheless, I'd like to thank you again for your support and better luck to me next time! :)
Thanks so much for your support vote on my request for adminship! With a final vote count of (82/5/0), it succeeded, and I'm now an administrator! I am thrilled with the overwhelming positive support from the community, and sincerely thank you once again for taking your time to voice your opinion. Feel free to contact me with any comments/suggestions in the future! —Mets501 (talk)03:53, 13 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your support on my RFA, which closed successfully this morning with a result of (53/2/1). I've spent the day trying out the new tools, and trying not to mess things up too badly :). I was quite thrilled with all the support, both from the people I see around every day, as well as many users who I didn't know from before, yet wrote such wonderful things about me. I look forward to helping to serve all of you, and the project. Let me know if there's anything I can help you with. -Goldom‽‽‽⁂04:33, 13 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The Esperanza To-Do List is a place where you may list any request, big or small, for assistance. If you need help with archiving your usertalk, for example, all you need to do is list it here and somebody will help you out. Likewise, if you need help with some area of editing on Wikipedia, list it here! Again, any matter, trivial or not, can be placed on this page. However, all matters listed on this page must not be of an argumentative nature. You do not need to be a member of Esperanza (or this program) to place or fulfill requests on this page. If you don't have any requests, consider coming by and fulfilling a few! This program has not been very active, but has lots of potential!
What's New?
In order to help proposed programs become specific enough to make into full-fledged programs, the In development section of the proposals page has been created. Proposals that are promising, but need to be organized in more detail are listed here. Please take a look at what is there, and help the proposals turn into programs.
To improve both the layout and text of the front page, in an attempt to clarify the image of Esperanza, the front page is going to have some redesigning take place. Please take your creative minds to Wikipedia:Esperanza/Front page redesign to brainstorm good ideas.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
In order to make sure all users who join Esperanza are welcomed, a list of volunteers who are willing to welcome new Esperanzians is at Wikipedia:Esperanza/Members#Esperanza_welcomers. Please add yourself if you are interested; we want to make sure all new Esperanza members are welcomed!
The In development section of the proposals page has been created.
Proposals page: Some proposals have been moved to the aforementioned "In development" section, some have been left as a proposal, and others have been archived. For those proposals that were a good idea but didn't necessarily constitute a program, General Esperanzial Actions has been created.
Two small pieces of charter reform will be decided on in a straw poll at Wikipedia talk:Esperanza/Governance. One involves filling the position of any councillors who may leave, the other involves reforming the charter.
Until cooperation with the Kindness Campaign is better defined, it remains as a proposed program.
Although having the newsletter appear on everyone's userpage is desired, this may not be ideal for everyone. If, in the future, you wish to receive a link to the newsletter, rather than the newsletter itself, you may add yourself to Wikipedia:Esperanza/Newsletter/Opt Out List.
Greetings -- I'd be interested in helping out. Have you contacted NTU/NUS yet? They would seem to be the logical places to organize the conference. Jpatokal07:15, 17 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I've pinged you on YM. Unfortunately I'll be leaving on a long trip next Wed and won't be back in Sing until the end of Sept, but I can do a round of calls on Monday. I'm afraid that Raffles/Suntec will be horribly expensive and unwilling to give any discounts though, we need sponsorship from a university to pull this off... Take a break. I took a few months off and did very little editing. After coming back, I felt inspired again...much like I was when I first started editing.
PS: I took the speedy notice off of your user page :P
First of all, I would like to thank you for letting me know about this. However, I feel that Singapore is not ready yet to host Wikimania. One of the main reasons is the relative low number of Singaporeans involved in this project (correct me if I am wrong). Secondly, the minimum number of participation must be 300. I feel that Singapore would have a problem reaching this target. However, this does not mean that I would not support future bids for this country. I hope that you can understand this. Secondly, I am very busy with work currently and I remain sceptical about the ability to attend such an important event. Moreover, the lack of exposure about Wikipedia in the local newspapers leaves much to be desired. Hope you understand. --Siva1979Talk to me17:46, 17 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hello! I would like to have further clarification over this bid. In this page one of the ground rules stated was to have the event between July to mid August. However, when I viewed the bid for Singapore, it was proposed to have the event held between 9 June 2007 to 13 June 2007. Don't you think that by choosing these dates, the bid would not be seriously considered? --Siva1979Talk to me01:57, 18 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
On media exposure, I think the event if brought to Singapore may set a trend possibly rivaling what the magnitude of the Singapore blogosphere is right now. The media is usually interested only when it occurs. - 09:39, 19 August 2006 (UTC)
On Kpjas' RFA, you have voted neutral based on his apparent lack of experience ("Your stay here has been long, but try to have more edits in the WP and user talk namespace, and I can support you the next time"). In fact, Kpjas is already an admin on the Polish Wikipedia, and has 37,000 edits there, including 2,600 to WP space over there. You have voted neutral based on inexperience, but these facts clearly indicate plenty of experience in the required areas. Terence, you want an experienced editor for admin. Kpjas is clearly experienced. Without badgering you (or trying not to, at least), I urge you to reconsider your vote in this particular RfA. Happy editing! :) --Firsfron of Ronchester01:49, 21 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Terence,
Thanks for your nice note on my talk page, and thank you for reviewing Kpjas' RFA again. Whatever you would have decided, I'm just glad you took a second look. This user deserved to have his full edit tally examined, and it's a shame it was overlooked in the original nomination. Anyway, best wishes and happy editing! :) --Firsfron of Ronchester22:09, 22 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Terence. You voted to delete this article. I have rewritten it. If you want to look at it again, that's OK, and if not, that's fine by me as well. Also, based on your reason for deleting, you might want to check out National Labor Relations Act. JChap200711:13, 22 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry to hear that you're ill, Terence. I hope you get lots of rest on your Wikibreak and can relax and feel better soon! -- Natalya15:21, 24 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'm so sorry to hear you're not feeling well!! I hope you'll be back soon, but don't push yourself - just lay and bed and relax. :) I find that a cup of tea with a squirt of honey helps my throat. Hello, Terence, and thank you for the support on my recent RfA. The final tally was 72/1/0, and I have now been entrusted with the mop. I'll be tentative with the new buttons for a while, and certainly welcome any and all feedback on how I might be able to use them to help the project. All the best, and thanks again! — Deville (Talk) 03:06, 25 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I I feel truly humbled & honored by your support in my RfA, which closed at 90 / 5 / 0. Thank you! If you need me for anything, just say the word. For now however, just like Mr Potter here:
2 reasons: (1) I waste too much time on Wikipedia already (to the point where the nurses just knock on the computer room door when I'm on call as opposed to paging me) and (2) I'm not bright enough to figure out how messaging works! I tried IRC once, lost my password, and got yelled at by an administrator for "impersonating" myself! -- Samirधर्म10:38, 25 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, you are invited to do this! I am also aware of your concerns as well. Please feel free to do this whenever a sensitive subject matter needs to be discussed with me. --Siva1979Talk to me12:36, 25 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks so much for your support on my RFA, which closed successfully this morning with a result of (64/3/3).
