Welcome![edit]

Hello, Husain.riaz, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Shalor and I work with the Wiki Education Foundation; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. You may also want to check out the Teahouse, a community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to helping new users. Below are some resources to help you get started editing.

Notes[edit]

Here are my notes:

  • Be careful of writing styles, specifically essay writing styles as they tend to be more casual and contain things that Wikipedia doesn't permit, like editorializing, original research, and point of view statements. For example, terms like "promising" are seen as POV statements since they're subjective to the reader. What may be promising to one may not be to another. The content has to be fairly matter of fact. If adding a POV statement from a source, it must be attributed in the sentence along the lines of "According to...". You really want to avoid writing in a casual style because it can also sometimes come across as promotional, even if this wasn't your intent.
  • Avoid vague statements of time like "recent", as that can quickly get outdated. Be specific when discussing time, such as "In November 2018...", as this will not only be more clear but also will not need to be updated and changed when the news stops being recent.
  • Make sure that the claims are in the source material. One of the sources for the Tesla semi trucks doesn't have the 123 kilowatt claim in it and instead goes to a list of stories - it needs to go to the specific story. Also, be very careful when taking claims directly from the manufacturer, as they're trying to sell people a product and as such, may fudge on some of the information or represent it in a light that could be seen as a little deceptive. It's why secondary sources are so important.
  • With the Tesla Semi in specific, don't forget that there's an existing article on this so you don't have to go into full details about this - just the very basics will suffice, such as when it was launched and any very major information about it.

I think that you have a good start here, but it needs some more work ensuring that it's neutral and doesn't go into too many specifics. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 18:22, 9 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • This still needs some work. Something to remember in this is that this section should only give a general overview of what's in the existing article on the Tesla Semi, especially as listing every feature Tesla has announced in a small section could come across as promotional. I've re-written the Semi section as an example of what the section should look like. You can use any of the material I wrote, of course. My concern here is that the above issues still apply here.
