I joined Tivoli Systems in 1993, heading partner marketing. I left Tivoli Software as VP Marketing Americas in 2000. It had become part of IBM after an IPO in 1995 and acquisition in 1996.
It was founded by Steve Marcie, Bob Fabbio and Todd Smith, who are all listed on the 1995 IPO prospectus. Peter Valdes was employee #4 and was responsible for liaison to Open Systems standards organizations such as OSF. He was not a founder. He left in the Spring of 1992.
I welcome any discussion as to why he should be listed as a founder.

Just wondering why just now that when Peter Valdes had passed away already? Why didnt you erased him in Tivoli history when he was still alive? HHmmmm... It was founded by Steve Marcie, Bob Fabbio and Steve Marcie? what? two Marcies? Cmon man! Why now? Because I just noticed the error in the Tivoli entry on Wikipedia.
I don't know you, nor are you registered, nor is there any "proof" on your side to validate your erroneous claim. I worked at Tivoli from 1993 to 2000. I started as employee # 45, headed partner marketing as a director in 1993. I left as Vice President of Marketing, Americas in 2000. My record is public and visible unlike yours. I do not feel compelled to provide some "Certificate of Employment" (which does not exist in any state in which I have lived, or worked) to some unidentified totally anonymous stranger who has no claim to knowledge of anything about the company where I was employed for 7 years.
I don't know Peter and I am sorry he has passed on, but I DO know he was not at Tivoli when I joined in 1993, nor when we went public in 1995, nor when we were acquired in 1996. The truth is he was employee #4. He left in the Spring of 1992. He was NOT a founder. I know all the three founders personally, and he was not one of them. Any evidence to the contrary as well as any information about your identity, would be appreciated.

So, I am puzzled as to what makes you such a definitive source??? Peter nor Steve(Marcie) were present in my living room when putting together the original business concepts behind Tivoli. Moreover, Peter Valdes worked with me at IBM in the Systems Management group and brought a great deal of domain expertise to Tivoli at approximately the SAME time that Steve(Marcie) had joined (they started within weeks of each other). I read Bob's remarks and stand by my correction. I would not have posted if I thought my corrections were not fact-based, regardless of what Mr. Fabbio said. While it is unfortunate that the passing of Mr. Valdes is what prompted this examination, I am interested only in the facts. Founders were issued stock from the Founder's Issue. Three employees were in that issuance, Bob Fabbio, employee #1, Todd Smith, # 2 and Steve Marcie, #3. Mr. Valdes was hired in December, 1989 more than 3 months after the company was founded on August 26, 1989. Mr. Marcie has confirmed this as he has the sensitivity of the late Mr. Valdes to this fact.
If you wish to consider him a founder, I suppose you are welcome to, but the facts do not bear this out.
