Gotta archive every other day or so now dont ya? I feel ya. I have had more messages this month that I think I have had in the past 3 combined. -- Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 18:42, 15 February 2007 (UTC)

Suspected sockpuppets

If i suspect two users of being a sockpuppet but don't know who of, what should i do? Simply south 22:24, 15 February 2007 (UTC)

Hmm...try WP:SSP or WP:CHECK, but you have to have some sort of evidence. ~ Arjun 22:47, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
I have. See the edit histories of Jessica Alba and Tom Brown's Schooldays. Simply south 22:49, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
Alright if you feel it is compelling go to WP:SSP. Good luck. ~ Arjun 22:51, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
However, i have checked there and it says i need to have to basically have in mind a user who pulls the strings. But the trouble is i don't know who. Simply south 22:55, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
Ah; well you kind of need to have an idea of that. Just consider they are seperate users for now and warn for vandalism and all of that. Or at least until you have adequate details. ~ Arjun 22:57, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
Or do you think i should place this on WP:AN/I? Simply south 23:00, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
Uh, sure thats a thought. ~ Arjun 23:00, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for the suggestions anyway. Simply south 00:11, 16 February 2007 (UTC)

Warning Templates

This is why Wikipedia needs warning templates in different languages for users to contribute in their own language. I am thinking about collaberating with people who speak English and another language in order to have multi-lingual warning templates. I don't know how to do this. Can you please help out? Thanks. Real96 23:09, 15 February 2007 (UTC)

I don't think that is needed, and would really be pointless. Whenever a foreign user edits the English Wikipedia, they are most likely test editing. And will be surprised when they get warned, imagine seeing a huge orange bar and a large stop sign hand ;). ~ Arjun 13:33, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
Okay, I see your point. Real96 15:58, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
Good thinking though. ~ Arjun 18:13, 16 February 2007 (UTC)

Carlos Mencia

Could you change the protection to semi and block Ju66l3r/KimboSlice? I don't think it should protected because 2 guys got in a edit war but that's just me. BJTalk 06:38, 16 February 2007 (UTC)

I think that full protection is fine, it will calm them down for a little. And I don't think that 3rr was violated in a 24 hour period, but I might be wrong. The protection will probably be removed in a day or 2. ~ Arjun 13:35, 16 February 2007 (UTC)

VegaDark's Request for Adminship

Arjun01/Archive23

Thank you for supporting my RfA. It was successful at a unanimous 52/0/0. I hope I can live up to the kind words expressed of me there, and hope to now be more of an asset to the community with access to the tools. Please feel free to leave a message on my talk page if you have any suggestions for me in the future. Thanks again! VegaDark 06:48, 16 February 2007 (UTC)

An RfA for RyGuy (talk · contribs · logs)

Hey Arjun, how do I start an RfA for myself? I think I should give adminship a try. RyGuy Sign Here! My Journal 14:35, 16 February 2007 (UTC)

Help

Hello Arjun! I created the article Xiong Yan with references and see also section, but they couldn't show up. Can you help please? Thanks! Wooyi 15:08, 16 February 2007 (UTC)

Sorry nvm now I know what was wrong. Wooyi 15:17, 16 February 2007 (UTC)

Heh

I corrected my typo on RFPP, and then you just added the other redirect... :p By the way, I read your comment on my RfA and... I think I actually blushed a little! Thanks, it's nice to be appreciated. riana_dzasta 18:14, 16 February 2007 (UTC)

No, that's fine, I was kidding :) And yeah, it's a busier area than I thought it would be, having never requested protection myself, so I'm glad to help out :) riana_dzasta 18:19, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
CSD is fun :) AIV is... not so much fun! Certainly a lot of malformed requests in there. Take care, and have fun! riana_dzasta 18:25, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
Oh god, yes. The Main Page is my homepage, so when I opened up and saw the new messages bar, I looked up and saw the delete button and went :O Hehe! riana_dzasta 18:30, 16 February 2007 (UTC)

Re: w00t!

Noooooooooooo! Just because I tagged the article with {{db-author}} doesn't mean that I want it deleted! Waaaah! Well anyway, I'll probably be taking another break, or at least semi-break on Sunday because I'm going to my grandparents' house where they have.........AOL..........pure evil. –Llama man 20:46, 16 February 2007 (UTC)

65.60.106.120...

How long did you block that IP for? It's already editing again. Pinball22 21:42, 16 February 2007 (UTC)

I think two days, however it was vandalizing its talk page (blocked users can edit their talk page), but now I have semiprotected it for a coupla days. Now it shouldn't be able to edit anything. ~ Arjun 21:47, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
Ahh... I never realized blocked users could edit their talk pages, but I suppose that makes sense. Thanks! :) Pinball22 21:51, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
No prob. :). ~ Arjun 21:53, 16 February 2007 (UTC)

Hi. I suspect Grammy Awards of 2007 hasn't been semi-protected, for IPs are still attacking the page. Thanks for your time. Xiner (talk, email) 23:02, 16 February 2007 (UTC)

Lol; my bad :), It was a mistake. I meant to protect it but hit some wrong buttons. But I am glad I didn't since it's on the main page, basically read WP:NOPRO Thanks for letting me know though. ~ Arjun 02:22, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
Well, NOPRO is disputed, but I guess more leeway should be allowed. Thanks anyway. Xiner (talk, email) 03:51, 17 February 2007 (UTC)

protection request

Hi. You declined my request to reprotect the page. However, there are several reasons this page should be reprotected. I shall list them, so please tell me if any are legimate enough:

  1. After the page was un-semi-protected, anons introduced vandalism, where it was mostly fine before that.
  2. Anons have mostly either vandalzed, or reverted vandalism because it was vandalized. Some have improved the article, but most improvement was done by registered users.
  3. There have been no requests from anons to unprotect the article.
  4. I have notified the talk page and the user that unprotected it about the vandals.
  5. A few users are working hard to revert vandalism.
  6. WP:NOPRO says that the rule is for featured articles.
  7. WP:NOPRO says that only full protection is usually prohbited.
  8. WP:NOPRO has a disputed guideline status, and therefore is not set in stone.
  9. I have noticed that most articles linked from the main page, are indeed semi-protected due to vandalism.

If there are other more important resons why vandalised articles should not be semi-protected. AstroHurricane001(Talk+Contribs+Ubx) 23:12, 16 February 2007 (UTC)

I don't know which page this is about, but I'd second the opinion that only featured articles are never protected. I've seen many front-page placements being semi-protected for vandalism, i.e. Baiji, which was to be fair unprotected after a couple of days (then semi-protected again when it became apparent it was hopeless. For 14 minutes today the Grammy article remained blanked. Xiner (talk, email) 16:01, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
Guys, I did the action a while back and another admin undid it citing WP:NOPRO. I would prefer not be undoing an admins action that undid mine :). Seriously just hang in, they will be off the main page soon and then if vandalism is still bad contact me or just go to WP:RFPP. cheers ~ Arjun 21:37, 17 February 2007 (UTC)

Wow

I was reverted vandalism by 80.43.127.140 (talk contribs) and was about to post him to AIV when I saw you had already blocked him! Good job! S.D. ¿п? § 15:29, 17 February 2007 (UTC)

Creepy...

You were right about the Colts beating the Patriots this year! (At least, in the playoffs...I don't know about the regular season.) –Llama man 15:56, 18 February 2007 (UTC)

Goodbye Arjun

Arjun, I have decided that I can't continue on wikipedia. I am going to leave for good. I hope this doesn't make a big impact, but I have to do it. I hope you can help make a difference with your admin-tools, and good luck. Farewell -- RyGuy(Retired)

Article

Arjun, you deleted an article as I was editing it.[1] Actually, it was a good thing since you alerted me that the article was turning out too much like a product pitch (though I was trying to make it less like a product pitch).

Well, I've now really stuck to the facts and tried to be as encyclopedic as possible.

Please let me know what you think.

Tchau,

charlie 20:29, 18 February 2007 (UTC)

PS I do not work for WINKsite, but just am a really avid user. As someone from the industry, I have seen many mobile services. WINKsite is certainly worth an encyclopedia entry. :-)

Okay well I am glad that you aren't complaining about the delete, yeah I accidentally said the wrong csd I deleted under WP:CSD#G11 as it seemed as you said "spammy". It looks much better now, cheers. ~ Arjun 21:19, 18 February 2007 (UTC)

The project has reached the quarter-way point for the work on the list of the oldest 1000 ("abandoned") articles in Wikipedia: 250 articles have been reviewed and updated!

The project now has 21 members. If you're no longer interested, please take your name off the list; you won't get any further messages like this one. On the other hand, if you're still interested, please consider signing up for a(nother) block of 10 articles to work on - if everyone did this, we'd be almost halfway through those 1000 articles!

Finally, please note that project approach has changed slightly - there is now a section for editors to place articles that need to be "adopted", or to adopt articles that need further work. This means that if you find an article in a block of ten that needs more work than you have time for, it has a place to be put.

No, my nick isn't registered. –Llama man 23:27, 18 February 2007 (UTC)
Sorry, I guess I already am registered! –Llama man 23:36, 18 February 2007 (UTC)
For some reason, my nick (Llama-man) occasionally changes to "Llama". So "Llama-man" is my registered nick. –Llama man 23:39, 18 February 2007 (UTC)
Sorry, I had to get off IRC suddenly. I'll resume this tomorrow. –Llama man 23:51, 18 February 2007 (UTC)

My edits to Nod's Limbs

I was splitting the article into two pages; the page had two different subjects in it, so I was turning it into a disambiguation page for them. The pages I created were:

Sorry about that, I thought you were page blanking. ~ Arjun 02:48, 19 February 2007 (UTC)

are supposed to be blocked (by you i think) but have just blanked the main page featured article. Johnbod 17:25, 19 February 2007 (UTC)

That was days ago when I blocked; they can edit now. Just keep reverting and warning, once they vandalize past test4 then report here. ~ Arjun 17:27, 19 February 2007 (UTC)

march days

You have recently protected a page March Days in a version which was vandalized by user Aivazovsky. See diff [2] he has removed a BIG CHUNK of the text without reasonable explanations, tens of refrences and quotes. please undo protection, we need to restore the text.--Dacy69 18:01, 19 February 2007 (UTC)

He gave a reason in his edit summary. // DecaimientoPoético 18:03, 19 February 2007 (UTC)

The edit summary is ridiculous: "Because it's POV and it's expansion was made with little or no discussion with other users. The user who expanded this article was trying to purposely provoke tensions." But Aivozovsky himself did not participated in the discussion except small comments. And I see no reason for tension - article was well-sourced. Should editor, who removes a big portion of the text, to discuss it prior of removal? If we demand discussion for expansion, the same should be applied to reduction.

No, this case should be considered by Arbitration. It is blatant vandalization.--Dacy69 22:10, 19 February 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for your help

Hi Arjun. As an editor of the Homelessness article, and having to keep up with all the vandalism and spurious entries, I thank you for s-protecting it for a bit so we can concentrate on some other work. Best Wishes. --- (Bob) Wikiklrsc 18:08, 19 February 2007 (UTC) (talk)

No problem; good luck and happy editing :) ~ Arjun 18:10, 19 February 2007 (UTC)

Hey. I see you deleted the above article, which I had speedied as blanked by author. What I didn't have time to get communicated to someone was that the article had an AfD going (started by me), but the author decided to withdraw the article, as it were. I'm not an admin, but I closed the AfD since I just found out non-admins can do that in some circumstances. Hopefully I closed it correctly, didn't overstep boundaries, etc. Sorry I didn't get all the info on the speedy tag - I had a class to run to. Natalie 18:56, 19 February 2007 (UTC)

Yep yep; I didn't know an AFD was going on, good job I couldn't have done it anybetter my self :). Cheers! ~ Arjun 19:53, 19 February 2007 (UTC)

Ask for a favor: Persian cinema

I don't know whether you are interested in copyeditting or not but ...

Since December 2005 I am working on Iranian cinema. You see that the article came a long path. [3]. I was improving it slowly. However the article is not in a good status yet. I want to bring the article to GA status. As you have a good command of English language and you are a member of editor league, you are in principle able to help me improving this article faster. It would be great if you could contribute to this article and help me in copyeditting. There are many useful articles here as well. Any helps will be very much appreciated. Thanks.Sangak 20:50, 19 February 2007 (UTC)

I would be delighted to help out in any way that I can :). To be honest... it is looking very, very good also very interesting. I am not seeing any spelling errors but will over look them again later. Punctuation seems fine, and the prose is very good to. I think that it will need some more citations to get to GA status, but I am sure that wont be to hard. Also I have added a few more wikilinks, be sure to wikilink where necessary. Cheers and good luck. ~ Arjun 21:05, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for your feedback. I will try to add more citaions. The french section needs most copyeditting. It needs to be shorter. I don't know how to do it. Thanks for your kind helps. Take care. Sangak 21:17, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
No problem; I will look at the section and see what I can do. Have a nice day. ~ Arjun 21:19, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
