Tor Glenn Melhus[edit]
Tor Glenn Melhus is an American singer/songwriter/musician/producer/entrepreneur born in Brooklyn, NY on Jan. 12, 1954. His parents (Torleif and Margit) both immigrated from Norway in the early 50’s and met and married in America.
In the 80’s and early 90’s Tor Glenn was a staff writer for Warner/Chappel and A&M (Almo/Irving) and wrote songs under the name, “Glenn Miller” for numerous recording artists including Regina Bell, TRIUMPH, Jack Wagner, Benny Mardones, Laura Branigan, and others. He also worked on projects with Rick Chertoff, Patty Smyth, Nick Martinelli, the Joe Jackson Band (minus Joe Jackson), and others.
A fulltime musician and composer from 1976 to 2001, Tor Glenn took an eight-year leave from the music industry to pursue other entrepreneurial avenues of income (which had become economically necessary by 2001).
Tor Glenn returned to the music world in 2010 with his self-titled album, “Tor Glenn” and has released two others since (“The Unlikely Return of Shi Lung Woo” in 2014 and “Boys & Girls” in 2019). His next album, “Mixed Metaphors”, is scheduled for release in February of 2021.
Tor Glenn has been married and divorced twice, has two children (Jesse Melhus born 1980 and Ryan Melhus born 1982), and is a direct descendent of Mary Andersen who invented the windshield wiper in 1903.
