Joe Joseph is a British local politician and shepherd, recently selected as the Labour and Co-operative Party candidate for the new Wells and Mendip Hills constituency in the 2024 General Election.[3]

Early Life and Career[edit]

Joe Joseph, originally from Sussex, has a distinguished background, having served as a Squadron Leader in the RAF. His career spans air movements, defense environmental policy, and lecturing in countryside and environmental management.[4] Since 2004, he has been breeding sheep and delivering environmental training.[5]

Politics[edit]

Joseph is a councillor for St Cuthbert Out Parish Council, representing the West Ward since June 2022. He is actively involved in environmental initiatives and community projects.[6]

A strong advocate for rural communities, Joseph emphasizes the importance of food justice and sustainable agricultural practices. He is committed to involving rural communities in broader policy discussions.[7]

In May 2024, Joseph was announced as the Labour and Co-operative candidate for the newly formed Wells and Mendip Hills constituency. His selection has been well received, with local media highlighting his dedication to rural issues and food justice.[8]
