Why I removed the growing list of international organizations[edit]

Nav-Box footer templates are navigational aids that are self-enclosed. Every article in a template should in turn contain the template. Secondly they list things by their defining characteristics. The fact that Canada is an observer at the African Development Bank is not a defining characteristic of either Canada's foreign affairs or the the Bank. Where there is a notable enough relationship we can create an article like Canada and NATO, which is specifically about Canada's relations with an institution. In those few cases articles about institutions can be here. Otherwise no institutions belong here or on any other foreign relations templates. If this topic is important to you, you can create a International organization membership of the United States-type article for Canada and add it to the template. --Kevlar (talkcontribs) 19:24, 7 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I understand your point and I do agree. I will consider your recommendation about the Canadian-related article listing memberships of international organizations and possibly create one (unless someone else gets around to it before I do). NorthernThunder (talk) 20:52, 7 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Canadian Flag. To stay or Go on this Template[edit]

Every Foreign relations template of every country on Wikipedia (whether a UN Member State or an unrecognized country) has got their National flags in the upper left hand corner of the Foreign relations template. Graham 11 is 100 percent wrong. The Canadian flag should stay in my opinion. YZDMAC (talk) 0:40 2 May 2024 (UTC)

Should be removed as per MOS:INFOBOXFLAG.Moxy🍁 11:53, 2 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Nope all the other Foreign relations Templates of countries whether they are UN members/observers or unrecognized states have it. So it my opinion it should stay. Okay. YZDMAC (talk) 20:14, 12 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I do not see how MOS:INFOBOXFLAG is applicable. A foreign relations template is a navbox, not an infobox.
MOS:INFOBOXFLAG starts by saying that flags "could be unnecessarily distracting and might give undue prominence to one field among many." These drawbacks, which are often relevant in an infobox, do not appear applicable in a foreign relations template. Bruce leverett (talk) 00:06, 29 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for everything. I too believe in the same thing as well on Templates about the Foreign relations of many countries. YZDMAC (talk) 01:47, 29 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
