The ARCH-HIVE

  • ... that one of the founders of The ARCH-HIVE, a Mormon artist collective, created a microgenre of Vaporwave called mormcore? Source: "I was enamored with Vaporwave and early 2010s net art and microgenres, even though the heyday of the scene was arguably over by then. I loved that people were establishing entire genres themselves before the art was even made. Usually genre is just something we apply after the fact with loose parameters. So I wanted to make my own genre out of whole cloth where I could have full control of the delivered aesthetic experience. The term “mormcore” was actually what I came up with for the genre before it became my handle. Once I had the idea for “Mormon Vaporwave,” the ideas came pretty easily." via LAZERos's interview with Provo Music Magazine
    • ALT1: ... that some of the zines published by The ARCH-HIVE use the Deseret alphabet? Source: ""God and My Ex" by LAZERos. 8 pages of verse & prose in the Deseret alphabet" ... ""Apocrypha" by The Desert Prophet. 12 pages of verse & prose in English and the Deseret alphabet" ... ""Deseret Brands Vol 1" by LAZERos. 8 full color pages with alternate Deseret logos of familiar brands." Zine page from The ARCH-HIVE website

    • Comment: I am a big fan of the ARCH-HIVE, which is why I made a page for them. I support them on Patreon and one of my works appeared in zine #8.

  • Not a full DYK review, but the first hook is clearly unacceptable because it's someone saying they invented something cited to an interview statement. Something like "claims to have created" would be required for it to read verifiable using such a source. If you have had articles published by the zine from this group, I suggest adding a WP:DISCLOSE notice on the talk page. RoseCherry64 (talk) 21:31, 21 February 2022 (UTC)
