Old discussion[edit]

I feel so sad that you have felt the need to have a separate page for this. I pleaded with turkish cypriots, or those knowleagable in their culture to add to the cyprus cuisine article. but obviously that is not good enough. in an island as small as ours, other than the eating of pork, are there really so many differences that there have to be two pages?Hotspury (talk) 15:20, 5 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Move[edit]

I recently moved this article to this new name. I did this for several reasons:

  1. This name is much more manageable than the previous title.
  2. The move brings the article inline with the article's category, Turkish Cypriot cuisine
  3. Per the caveats section of Wikipedia:Naming conventions (country-specific topics) covering subjects that may extend beyond the geographical region of the territory use the Country topic format as opposed to the Topic of Country format..

Turkish Cypriot[edit]

Turkish Cypriot is almost identical to the cuisine of the rest of Cyprus with the exception being pork and nothing much else. This article only serves nationalistic purposes. Cuisine, the Cypriot dialect, the island and common festivals were and are one of the most important things that unite all Cypriots, Orthodox Christians and Muslims.

As a neutral foreigner (I am Italian), having travelled [1998-2001] both to Cyprus and to the occupied North, I can confirm that there is no such a thing as "Turkish Cypriot" cuisine. In the occupied North they will serve also Turkish dishes, but that does not change the fact that otherwise they serve exactly the same dishes, except for pork-based dishes of course.

I believe this page is empty for a reason...
