I have extended Proth's theorem w/out any sacrifice! Please read my simple algebraic proof on my website... www.oddperfectnumbers.com; it's on the Other Short Proofs page; enjoy! Bill Leavemsg2 (talk) 01:37, 10 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Infiniteness[edit]

Does anyone know if there is a known proof that there are infinitely many Proth primes? As far as I know, the article does not say anything about the question of the Proth primes being a finite or infinite set. The OEIS link gives a conjecture on the long-term growth of the sequence, which if true would obviously imply the Proth primes are an infinite sequence. 74.104.137.240 (talk) 22:08, 24 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
