Why...

does the article say The Kalava is tied on the left wrist of men and unmarried women... then show a photo of the thread on the right hand of a man.--S Philbrick(Talk) 01:41, 7 August 2017 (UTC)

Wearing of the Red Secred Thread Kalava / Mauli on the Right Hand, for Men.

My daughter and I were looking at the pictorial and written definition/description for Kalava on Wikipedia, the sacred red thread tied on the wrists of men and woman. An extract from the description on Wikipedia states:- “The Kalava is tied on the left wrist of men”, yet the photo on the same page contradicts it by showing a man’s RIGHT wrist.

Over many Years at sacred Hindu ceremonies, the "Pundit" (Priest/Holy Man) has always tied the Kalava on my RIGHT wrist, same as the photo.

I found this reference website to support my statement.

My request therefore is to correct the statement on Wikipedia from:-

“The Kalava is tied on the left wrist of men” TO “The Kalava is tied on the RIGHT wrist of men”

NB - Kalava is also know as Mauli.

Merge to Mauli

This article is very poorly sourced and a WP:CFork of the Mauli (thread) article. I intend to merge all these related articles and update the content citing scholarly sources.
