Images & subsections[edit]

I understand the images need to be culled, but the images are in the correct categories. Recategorizing images without altering the text that goes with them (i.e. the body text of the article, not the captions) is misleading and can potentially spread misinformation. A Coptic textile (from the 3rd-7th century AD) definitionally cannot be Pre-Ptolemaic, as that dynasty ended before 1 AD, & etc. The draping of skirts and capes was left in the new category because it is an edge case image and includes Pre- and Post-Ptolemaic clothing. How the subsections are divided[edit]

The first two sections I feel largely explain themselves- Pre-Ptolemaic is before that dynasty and Post- is for during and after it's institution. The Medieval category starts after the Muslim conquest of Egypt in the late 7th century AD, and the Modern category starts in the 17th century for now, unless enough information about Ottoman Egyptian clothing and other fashions between the 16th century and 18th century can be found to justify creating a category separate from Medieval and Modern. The Ottoman Egyptian fashions are grouped under modern because many of those fashions (such as men's caftans, binish, and djubbeh) were worn up until the 1920s or later. A few items are also, still currently worn. Sartorialegypt (talk) 17:36, 28 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Further clarification: the "medieval" period is commonly started after 500 AD, but this is how it applies to European history, not African. While there is some interplay between Europe and Egypt between 500AD and the 640sAD, I currently think it best to divide the start of Medieval Egypt with the Arab/Muslim conquest Sartorialegypt (talk) 17:40, 28 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
