CromwellCromwell (disambiguation) — It seems to me that for use without a first name, Oliver Cromwell is the main meaning. For example, most of the things listed (the larger towns, film, play, college and tank), are all named after Oliver Cromwell. (The ship and current are not.) So Cromwell should point to Oliver Cromwell, with a hat note to the dab page.ospalh (talk) 13:37, 11 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment it's a surname, is this commonly done in other instances? 65.94.71.179 (talk) 22:45, 11 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support In Britain at least unqualified references to Cromwell are generally understood to refer to Oliver. PatGallacher (talk) 11:34, 12 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support Oliver Cromwell is by far the most famous bearer of the surname Cromwell. Perhaps the current article 'Oliver Cromwell' should be moved towards 'Cromwell' (after moving the current Cromwell-article towards 'Cromwell (disambiguation)')? I don't think we should move Oliver Cromwell->Cromwell; but Cromwell should be a redirect to Oliver Cromwell, I think that is the point of this RM. ErikHaugen (talk | contribs) 17:44, 18 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support Even not in Britain, Cromwell is Oliver. Unless maybe you live in Cromwell,_Connecticut. As an aside, the fact that a town is named after him does not mean the town can't become far more famous. ErikHaugen (talk | contribs) 17:44, 18 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Add Thomas Cromwell to this Cromwell disambiguation?[edit]

When I watched parts of the BBC miniseries Wolf Hall, I probably googled 'Cromwell' to get some background information (I'm American, so history that's familiar to at least some English people is not so familiar to me), and the results of that search confused me: I hadn't known there were two completely different ones of them! So I think that the main historical character in that miniseries, Thomas Cromwell, should be added to this disambiguation page. But I'm not sure how to add it here, & although I presume I could just add it, as in any article, I see that this page is not considered to be a regular article, and would like to do it the proper, wiki-way. (Or maybe someone who knows how could do it?) UnderEducatedGeezer (talk) 07:16, 28 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
