Contradictions IRT Coast City[edit]

Hasn't it been said before that Coast City was supposedly a heavily urbanized Santa Barbara, California? I've also heard that it was said to be a fictionalized (and again, heavily urbanized) version of Avalon, California as well.--Mitsukai 28 June 2005 13:23 (UTC)

I've never heard of Coast City as being similar to either of those two cities. Between Coast City's rather large size (much bigger than those two cities easily), the emphasis (in Silver Age stories) on its beaches, and having a large Lockheed-esque industry (Ferris Aircraft), San Diego seems to be its main analog. Sorry, I meant insofar as geography was concerned. I personally always pictured Coast City, population-wise, to be more along the lines of the size of Long Beach or my own native Huntington Beach, especially in regards to the aerospace industry. But what I meant was that geographically, I've heard of it being placed in SoCal, as far north as Santa Barbara county (on the coast) and as far south as the corridor between Irvine and Oceanside. I'd also heard it once placed on the other side of Catalina Island (in one case, in the place of Avalon itself).--Mitsukai 28 June 2005 14:18 (UTC)

I believe it has been said. That original theory was even given a possibly accidental salute during "Reign of the Supermen", by way of having Santa Barbara levelled right along with Coast City. I believe that Karl Kesel wrote the relevant issue of Adventures of Superman, although I've yet to refresh my memory on this. -- D. Williams 22 November 2005 12:48 (EST)

Engine City merge[edit]

merge - a merge makes complete sense here. What the???[edit]

What is this nonsense article doing up here? I have been to Coast City many times and it was NEVER destroyed and I have never heard of this Hal Jordan fellow. More details regarding location[edit]

I remember one of the 'explosion' follow up issues detailing the effects on the surrounding cities and towns. Basically some 'real-world' locations got severely messed up.
