This page is a work in progress. I invite others with an interest and with the knowledge to add and otherwise edit this article.

There has been some question regarding links to personal web pages. Personal pages are acceptable when they refer to the person the page is about. They may not be used as a verification of facts within the article. They have not been used for that purpose, they have only been used to direct the reader to the poets themselves. All of the links throughout this article lead to sources other than personal pages other than examples of actual poetry... and the poetry itself is not really in question.

I believe another issue that has come up is the possibility that some people have gone onto the page and added links in an effort of self promotion. Well, I can't really do much about that if the whole section in question has been deleted.

Prominent poets was recently deleted by another editor... and while I do understand someone may have just gone in and added their link to the section, or there may have been some questions, I don't think it is appropriate to just delete the whole thing. I have re-constructed much of it in the hope that the editor who has targeted this article will be helpful, rather than destructive in the future.

Notability is another issue that has been raised... well there are a LOT of Biker poets out there so just because the editor is not familiar with it, it doesn't mean it is not notable. Frankly I had not heard of Indian Poetry until I visited the Poetry project page.

You should be providing citations to independent, third-party books, newspapers, magazines and other reputable authorities which have recognized and discussed these poets. Absolutely anybody can make a personal web page; it tells us nothing. The citations should be footnotes supporting factual statements about the poets. If you did that, nobody would have any grounds for complaint. Nobody would be able to argue whether they are prominent or not and deserve mention. Since Wikipedia is not a directory, a list of offsite links is inappropriate. Since the links are not independent of the subject, they make poor citations. It is highly appropriate to delete the whole thing, and you should not be calling them "prominent" without showing evidence that they are prominent. --Dennis Bratland (talk) 05:32, 14 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Now, that is constructive Dennis. I do appreciate it. Please give me some time to post the sources you have advised. It is late for me right now and frankly I freaked when I saw what had happened. This is a new, burgeoning genre and there are numerous articles to back that up. I will begin tomorrow to dive back into it and pull up the information. You need to understand though that biker poetry is relatively new so while there are prominent poets within the biker community, that will not always lead to published notoriety. I will however do my best. I want this article to be in compliance with Wikipedia standards. There have been articles on some of these folks, but most of them are prominent within the field... unfortunately it remains a small field. :)

Who knows... I may need to eliminate most of the people on that list. I appreciate your input. Akbikerpoet (talk) 05:50, 14 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I've made changes to the prominent poets section that I belie3ve will bring the section in compliance with Wikipedia standards. I also would like to address the issue of notability. I believe the article clearly falls within the guidlines of notability and I would like to see that notation removed. Any comments from other editors on that? Thank you WFF12 for reviewing this page and removing the notability tag. Akbikerpoet (talk) 16:33, 15 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you Spanglej for the editing on Biker poetry That was obviously a lot of time and effort on your part. It's nice to see the notations gone from the top of the article. Akbikerpoet (talk) 05:25, 17 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
