It is defined as the period of time at which the sun is halfway between beginning morning and nautical twilight and sunrise, when there is enough light to see objects clearly with the unaided eye.

Is it a period (which implies duration) or a momentary transition?

The "halfway between" language is hard to parse. Which of the two "and"s has precedence? Or is the "period ... halfway between" three things?
