Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo is an Indian politician from Odisha and a member of the erstwhile royal family of Patna (princely state), Bolangir. He is serving as the Deputy Chief Minister of Odisha.[1] He is also a member of the National Executive of the BJP.[2]

Early life and education[edit]

Singh Deo is a member of the Royal family of Patna Princely State(now in Odisha). He is a son of former MP from Bolangir, Raj Raj Singh Deo and grandon of former Chief Minister of Odisha , Rajendra Narayan Singh Deo. He completed his B.A. from Delhi University.[3] His wife, Sangeeta Kumari Singh Deo, was a Member of the Parliament of 16th, also she was a member of the 12th, 13th and 14th Lok Sabha of India. They have a daughter Nivritti Kumari, who is married to son of Arvind Singh of Mewar.

Career[edit]

Singh Deo won the 2024 Odisha Legislative Assembly election representing Bharatiya Janata Party from Patnagarh Assembly Constituency in Bolangir district. He was ex-state president of BJP Odisha unit.[3]

He was a Cabinet Minister of Industry and Public Enterprise from 2000 to 2004 and from 2004 to 2009 and also served as Urban Development and Public Enterprise minister in the Naveen Patnaik government until Patnaik left National Democratic Alliance in 2009.[4][5][6]

On 11 June 2024, he was announced as the next Deputy Chief Minister of Odisha along with Pravati Parida post 2024 Odisha Legislative Assembly election.[7][6][8]
