The Entry/Exit System (EES) is a system of the European Union for the automatic monitoring of the border crossings of third-country nationals (non-EU/EEA/Swiss citizens) at all border crossings of the Schengen Area. The system, which will be operated by eu-LISA, is scheduled to be implemented on October 6, 2024, at which time passport stamps will no longer be used upon entering or exiting the Schengen Area. In addition to the locations and times of border crossings made by travelers, the system will store traveler information including names, dates of birth, and biometric data such as photographs and fingerprints.[1]
