Saticöy is an American alt-pop band from Los Angeles.[4]

Saticöy was formed in 2018 when Jaron Takach, Derek Long and Jon Averbook moved to Los Angeles to begin writing music. They had originally met while attending Ohio University, where they played in a jam band called Waivada.[5] The name of the band Saticöy was created by adding an umlaut to the name of the street in North Hollywood where the band has a rehearsal space.[3]

In September, 2018, Saticöy released their debut single, "Faded from Color," which was nominated for "Best Alternative Song of 2018" at the Hollywood Music in Media Awards.[6] Later that same year, the band released "Last Call," featuring Tre Wright.[2] The music video for "Last Call" won "Best Dance Video" and "Best Feel Good Video" at the LA Music Video Awards.[7]

In 2019, Saticöy released "Nice to Know."[8][9][7] In August of that year, they opened for Modern Eyes at West Hollywood's venue The Troubadour.[10]

In 2020, the group produced and released "Read Receipts" featuring Jay Ham,[11] and "Clean It Up," a collaboration with vocalist Tangina Stone.[12] In September 2020, they received a nomination for Best Music Production Artist at the Production Music Association's Mark Awards.[13][14] In December 2020, their single "Ménage à Moi" was nominated for "Best Alternative Song of 2020" at the Hollywood Music in Media Awards.[15]

In August 2021, Saticöy signed a publishing deal with Universal Production Music Group, concurrently releasing a ten-song self-titled album.[3] In September 2021, they released single "Icy Boy,"[16] which won "Best Pop Song of 2021" at the Hollywood Music in Media Awards.[17] In October 2021, Saticöy released single "Nice & Easy"[18] and bandmates Tim Greer, Jaron Takach, and Derek Long won two Mark Awards: one for "Pop Track of the Year" and one for "Contemporary R&B Track of the Year."[19] In May 2022, Saticöy released their debut EP, "Crack a Smile,"[20] of which their eponymous single was called, "a warm and enticing return to form for the group"[21] and "[an] upbeat pop song that gives you no choice but to smile, regardless of your mood."[22]

In September 2023, Saticöy released a twelve-song album titled "Origami."[23] The lead single, "Safe Side feat. Connor Musarra," amassed millions of views across social media platforms. "Origami" and its album release show at the Lodge Room were met with critical acclaim.[24][25][26] On social media, Saticöy has attracted a following of over 300 thousand people, learning to play covers of popular songs in 30 seconds or less.[27] In 2024, Saticöy won Valley Cultural Foundation's Battle of the Bands.[28]
