Olamide Subulade Alao-Akala (born July 1st, 1983) is a Nigerian businesswoman, author, motivational speaker, and the founder of UMèRA Farms and UMèRA Business School.[1][2][3]
Early Life and Education[edit]
Olamide was born into the family of late Otunba (Dr.) Adebayo Alao-Akala (Former Executive Governor of Oyo State). The earliest part of her life was spent in Lagos, studying at Home Science Association Ikoyi, for her Primary education, (graduated, 1992). Olamide proceeded to Federal Government Girls College in Oyo State (graduated, 1999).
She obtained a diploma in law at the University of Jos in 2002 and furthered to Bowen University in Iwo, Osun State, to pursue a BSc. in Sociology, graduating in 2007.
She Obtained a Msc. in Human Resource Management from the University of Salford, England (2009). She also completed a Harvard Business School Online Certificate Course in Disruptive Strategy (2023). Olamide is slated to conclude her PhD program in International Agribusiness by 2025 at the Lead City University, Ibadan, Nigeria.
Career[edit]
Before venturing into Agriculture in 2020, Olamide started her career as a creative director with Jane Jacobs (2009-2015) and TDB Global Ventures 2013-date. She serves as an Executive Board Member, Doje Microfinance Bank, Ogbomosho, Oyo State (2011 - present), and CEO, UMèRA Farms Nigeria LTD (2020 - present).[2]
UMéRA[edit]
UMèRA is a budding conglomerate comprising of agricultural ventures, and a business school. UMèRA Farms was incorporated by the CAC on August 7, 2020 and made up of Nutty Park, Cashew Plantation, Cattle Park, Cassava Project, Egg Box and Feather Park.[2]
Founded in 2022, UMèRA Business School nurtures future entrepreneur into successful business owners and also organizes the annual UMèRA Boost Conference themed: Made for More.[4]
Philanthropy[edit]
Olamide is a socio-entrepreneur and Author. One of her deepest passions lies in empowering disadvantaged women and transforming them into successful entrepreneurs. This, she does through "The CEO Women," Initiative.[2]
