Matteo Manfredi[1] (born on August 28, 1979, in Pavia, Italy)is an Italian entrepreneur and financier, known for founding Gestio Capital and serving as CEO and president of the Italian football club U.C. Sampdoria[2] since April 2024.

Early Life and Education[edit]
Matteo Manfredi was born in Pavia, Italy. He earned a degree in Economics from the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan. Furthering his education, he attended Columbia University in New York City, specializing in Business Administration and Management.
Career[edit]
Manfredi began his career in the Italian Army[3] as a lieutenant. Transitioning to the corporate world, he joined PricewaterhouseCoopers as a Management Consultant. In this role, he developed expertise in managing multi-asset operations and providing strategic advisory services to banking institutions in the United Kingdom, with a focus on enhancing operational efficiency and financial performance.
He later joined Barclays Bank, where he assumed the role of Financial Controller and earned the title of Management Accountant (ACMA – CIMA). His skills were further applied at Lloyds Group, where he concentrated on international development and strategic consulting.
In 2012, after over a decade in the banking industry, Manfredi founded Gestio Capita[4]l, a multi-family office based in London, which later expanded to Milan. He continues to serve as CEO of the firm.
Manfredi also holds executive advisory positions at OTX Group and TLG Capital. His investment portfolio includes stakes in Gojek, Cipla Quality Chemical Industries, Insilico Medicines, Revolut, Hiro Capital, Planet Farms, SpaceX, Palantir, and OpenAI.
U.C. Sampdoria[edit]
A significant milestone in Manfredi’s career was the acquisition of a majority stake in U.C. Sampdoria on May 27, 2023, in partnership with Andrea Radrizzan[5]i. This acquisition was critical in rescuing the historic Genoese football club from bankruptcy, following intricate negotiations[6] with former president Massimo Ferrero and the Genoa court. The successful restructuring, supported by a financial infusion of 40 million euros, led to Manfredi’s election as the club’s president on March 4, 2024.[7]
