Brent Goudarzi[edit]

Brent Goudarzi (born May 2, 1969) is an American trial attorney and businessman. He is the founder of Longview, Texas-based law firm Goudarzi & Young, LLP. Goudarzi has been practicing law in Texas in the area of personal injury for 27 years.[1]

Early Life[edit]

Goudarzi was born May 2, 1969 in Gilmer, Texas.[2] Goudarzi attended Gilmer High School and then entered Texas Tech University, where he earned his undergraduate degree in 1993. Continuing his studies at Texas Tech University School of Law, he received his Juris Doctor degree (J.D.) in 1996.

Career[edit]

Goudarzi was admitted to the bar in 1997[3].

Goudarzi is a member of the State Bar of Texas[3] and is licensed to practice in the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Northern Districts of Texas as well as all State Courts of Texas.[3] Goudarzi is also a member of the Oklahoma Bar Association.[4]

Goudarzi & Young, LLP[edit]

In 1997, Goudarzi went into private practice and established Goudarzi & Young, LLP in Gilmer. From the start, he and partner Marty Young focused on personal injury cases.[2]

Notable Cases[edit]

  • Lastly, in 2023 the surviving family of an individual who was killed in an 18-wheeler accident was award $125 million.[5]
  • In 2022, another family of a victim who was involved in an 18-wheeler accident that resulted in the deaths of two children was awarded $150 million--the largest settlement in an 18-wheeler wreck in U.S. history.[6]
  • In 2021, the surviving children of a 73-year-old East Texas woman killed in a 2016 crash were awarded $730 million. This verdict is considered “the single largest wrongful death verdict in U.S. history.”[7]
  • In 2019, the family of a victim who was involved in an 18-wheeler accident that resulted in quadriplegia was awarded $140 million—the largest single-plaintiff award in the history of the American legal system.[8]
  • In 2018, the family of a 21-year-old who died as a result of an 18-wheeler collision received a $260 million compensatory verdict.[9]
  • In 2018, a man who suffered a cervical injury as a result of an 18-wheeler accident received a $101.1 million verdict.[10]
  • In 2018, a A $10 million settlement was awarded to two individuals who were injured when the driver of a Schwan's Home Service Inc. truck struck their car.[11]
  • In 2017, a unanimous verdict for $1.08 million was obtained in a case involving an officer-involved wreck where the victims received significant injuries as a result.[12]

Brent Goudarzi has worked with many local and U.S.-based nonprofits and civic organizations, including St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, MD Anderson Cancer Center, American Cancer Society, East Texas Food Bank, among others.[2].

Pro Bono Work[edit]

Goudarzi has provided pro bono services across Texas.[2]

Vaccine Freezer Donation[edit]

Goudarzi's law firm donated a freezer to the Diagnostic Clinic of Longview in order to store the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine.[20]

Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway[edit]

Each year at Thanksgiving, Goudarzi & Young LLP, hold a community-wide turkey giveaway where turkeys are given out to local citizens. Over 1000 turkey are handed out each year.[21]

Christmas Ham Giveaway[edit]

Each year at Christmas, Goudarzi & Young LLP, hold a community-wide ham giveaway where over a thousand free hams are given out to local citizens.[22]

Senior Movie Program[edit]

Once a month, Goudarzi's firm holds a free movie day for citizens of the community aged 55 years and older. The citizens gain admission by donating at least two canned goods that are then donated to the East Texas Food Bank.[23]

Personal Life[edit]

Brent Goudarzi currently resides in Longview, Texas and has two children, including eldest son Dain Goudarzi, who is currently pursuing his Juris Doctor degree at SMU Dedman School of Law in Dallas, Texas.
