Armando Francisco Alvarez (born July 14, 1994) is an American professional baseball infielder for the Oakland Athletics of Major League Baseball (MLB). He made his MLB debut in 2024.

Career[edit]

Álvarez attended Miami Killian Senior High School in Kendall, Florida.[1] He enrolled at Eastern Kentucky University and played college baseball for the Eastern Kentucky Colonels. The New York Yankees selected him in the 17th round of the 2016 MLB draft.[2]

After the 2022 season, Álvarez became a free agent and signed a minor league contract with the San Francisco Giants for the 2023 season. He became a free agent after the 2023 season and signed a minor league contract with the Oakland Athletics. On June 22, 2024, the Athletics promoted Álvarez to the major leagues.[3] He made his major league debut that day.[4]
